My name is Allan Lowrie and I am the Year 4 teacher. This year promises to be both challenging and exciting as Year 4 students take on new responsibilities and delve into a variety of engaging subjects.

Historical Adventures:
Students will embark on a journey through Viking and Anglo-Saxon times, exploring kings, battles, and laws. They will also research the Ancient Egyptians and learn about the evolution of the British monarchy.

Geographical Exploration:
Year 4 will develop their geographical knowledge by comparing regions of Britain and Italy, examining natural disasters, and appreciating the beauty of our world.

Literacy Focus:
We aim to nurture a passion for reading with a whole range of class books, including ‘How To Train Your Dragon', 'Wild Child: A journey through nature' and 'Akimbo and the elephants'. We have a keen focus on creativity in imaginative writing, as well as a development of thoughts, ideas and opinions through arguments and debates. We feel it is important for children to have a voice and share their opinions on topics such as animal captivity and their environment.

Mathematics Focus:
Towards the end of the school year, Year 4 will take a government multiplication test consisting of 25 questions, with just 6 seconds allocated per question to assess their rapid recall skills. Preparation for this test will take place in school and you can also support your child in developing their knowledge of multiplication tables at home.

PE Schedule:
PE will take place once a week on Thursday mornings. During Autumn 2 we will also have swimming on Friday afternoons.
